Getting to Know the Effects of Cigarette Smoking

Many organizations, including health and the government have made it pretty obvious that many diseases are associated with the negative effects of cigarette smoking. According to some recent studies, those who smoke have an extremely high chance of developing lung cancer as compared to those who do not smoke at all. People should be aware that several of the side effects of smoking are cancer, throat cancer, redness of eyes, emphysema, smoker’s cough, amongst many others.
The effects of cigarette smoking can not only lead to cancer but many other negative health effects. Some other diseases that are caused by smoking are the following: esophageal cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer and cervix cancer.
Some more Effects of Cigarette Smoking:
- A substance in all cigarettes, nicotine, is a poisonous chemical that causes an addiction as one of the effects of cigarette smoking.
- Tobacco gives off smoke that has radon and radium, poisonous compounds that causes lung cancer.
- The effects of cigarette smoking will also make the blood thick and this will increase the risk of blood clots which can possibly lead to heart strokes and heart attacks.
Tar is given off by smoking, which builds up in the lungs.Air sacs with tar on them can lead to all kinds of lung and breathing troubles.
Women can develop wrinkles much sooner because of the effects of cigarette smoking.
If a woman smokes while she is expecting, she greatly risks the babies well-being in her womb because of the negative effects of cigarette smoking.
Second hand smoke has become a big problem today. Believe it or not but even though nicotine is not deadly, the tar in the smoke is more deadly than nicotine. Adults as well as children can develop illnesses because of second hand smoke. This is also often cited as one of the nastiest effects of cigarette smoking.
